Director Paul Dalio is scheduled to be present.

Movies have always been a powerful vehicle for giving us a sense of what mental illness looks like. These profiles influence the attitudes, values, and behaviors toward mental health, especially for those who have not had direct contact with individuals who have experienced problems. Unfortunately, too often the portrayals are unrealistic, whether they claim that love “cures” mental illness or that people with mental illness are “homicidal maniacs.” In Touched with Fire, Paul Dalio and Spike Lee offer us a stunningly nuanced portrayal of two people who meet in treatment and share the highs and lows characteristic of bipolar disorder.
