Primate presents the day-to-day activities of a primate research center. Scientists in the film are concerned with studying and experimenting with primates’ physical and mental development. Some of the experimental work shown in the film deals with the capacity to learn, remember and apply language and manual skills; the effects of alcohol and drugs on behavior; control through telestimulation of aggressive and sexual behavior; and the various neural and physiological patterns that determine behavior.
