still from the film Under the Tree
Under the Tree follows a man who is forced to move in with his parents after being accused of adultery. While he fights for custody of his four-year-old daughter, he is gradually sucked into a dispute between his parents and their neighbors over an old and beautiful tree. What starts as a typical spat between suburban neighbors unexpectedly and violently reaches a boiling point, soon spiraling out of control. According to Variety, Under the Tree is a “savage black comedy filled with gasp-worthy extremes.” In Icelandic with English subtitles. Contains mature content, including strong language, drug references, and graphic violence.
