In Bruce Beresford’s award-winning 1980 film, three Australian Army officers serving in the Boer War are accused of murder and put on trial. Lord Kitchener attempts to use the trial as a demonstration that he will bring the full measure of law upon his soldiers if the rules of war are disobeyed and is determined to secure a verdict of guilty. However, the trial does not progress as he intends, as the defense fights back for justice. Nominated for Best Writing at the Academy Awards, winner of ten awards at the Australian Film Institute, including best Cinematography, Director, Film, and Actor.
