Film Ist a Girl and a Gun

This is the 13th episode in Gustav Deutsch’s ongoing series of collage films that plumb the highways and byways of film history for rich and allusive source material. This installment employs bits of silent cinema, including footage drawn from the collection of the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction, to consider the often-proposed primordial link between sex and violence. Deutsch’s montage and soundtracks are dense and allusive, yet they are also dramatic and cinematically compelling. (35mm)
