Still image from the film The Whistleblower
This film from first-time director Kondracki harkens back to the golden age of American independent cinema of the early 1970s, yet is also an inherently modern interpretation of the political thriller. American police officer Kathy (Academy Award® winner Rachel Weisz) takes a job working as a peacekeeper in postwar Bosnia. Her expectations of helping to rebuild a devastated country are dashed when she uncovers corruption, cover-up, and intrigue amid a world of private contractors and multinational diplomatic double-talk.
