Filmed on the road, without any permits, over a period of five hot summer days, Mudcity is the story of a young, nameless vagabond who, after finding a box of photographs and cassette tapes in a recently deceased woman's home, decides to seek out the deceased woman's son. Combining the rough aesthetics of Super 8mm with a score of heavy discordant guitar strums, Mudcity stands as the obdurate antithesis of an industry increasingly concerned with clarity and high-fidelity.
Produced as part of his honors thesis through the Department of Communication and Culture, Curt Miller's Mudcity is a search for meaning when all the signs suggest that life itself has become redundant. The film was made possible partly through the generosity of the Hutton Honors College.
