Screenwriter Tina Fey delivered this much-loved film about 16-year-old Cady, who finds the animal behavior she watched as the daughter of zoologists in Africa replicated among the girls she encounters when she starts high school in Illinois. Based on the book Queen Bees and Wannabees, the film explores the sometimes brutal dynamics of rivalry and exclusion, as well as the power of honesty and friendship. Hilarious and poignant, with a healthy dose of outrageous satire, Mean Girls is a teen flick classic. (35mm presentation)
