Claire Denis is one of the greatest filmmakers
working in the cinema today - period. Her films
are visually stunning, technically accomplished
and thematically complex. And, in the words of
Andrew Hussey of The Observer, she is “fearless”.
Her solidarity with the disenfranchised and her
sometimes frightening intelligence leads to incisive
critiques of the way the personal and political
become intertwined, but ultimately invites us
to determine what lines are being crossed.
Sponsored by the Ove W Jorgensen Foundation, the Black Film Center/Archive, Department of Communication and Culture, and IU Cinema. Special thanks to Institut français in France, Unifrance, Cultural Services of the French Embassy, Jean-Francois Rochard and Delphine Selles.
