Now in its 4th year as a traveling film festival, the Festival of (In) Appropriation is a curated collection of found-footage film and video work. This year’s festival features 13 works by artists who appropriate existing footage from various sources (including Felix the Cat cartoons, home movies, an educational program designed to teach children their vowels , and a video deconstruction of the North by Northwest cropduster sequence), recontextualizing them in new, and thus “inappropriate,” ways using a dazzling array of visual and aural techniques.
