Australia in the 70's
Australian New Wave Cinema began in the early 1970’s, when a generation of filmmakers arose, telling distinctively Aussie stories. Australia produced nearly 400 films between 1970 and 1985 - more than had been made in the history of the Australian film industry. Walkabout, though a British film, introduced international audiences to the harsh landscape as a character itself and indigenous themes that carried forward many films to come.
